Wellness meets South by Southwest Interactive (SxSWi)

As many of you know, the legendary South by Southwest Interactive (SxSWi) festival added a health track for the first time this year – I was lucky enough to be a part of the advisory board that helped to pick the panels that would be presented there. And I was thrilled to see that a wellness panel created by Fran Melmed, my co-host on the cohealth workplace wellness tweetchat, was selected. I find it even more exciting that Fran will be co-hosting her “core conversation” – entitiled “Employee Wellness: Farce or Untapped Potential?” – with the delightful Michael Samuelson, the founder of the Health and Wellness Institute (and now the CEO of Samuelson Health and Wellness). I use the word “delightful” to describe Michael because although we only met once, he made a very lasting impression on me. His attitude, filled with humility and grace, can’t help but endear him to you … and makes his message that much more powerful. If you’d like a “taste,” just watch his presentation from the Business Innovation Factory in late 2009 – it’s … delightful.

And of course it’s easy for me to sing Fran’s praises. As the co-host and co-founder of the cohealth tweetchat (that’s a lot of “co’s” for one sentence, isn’t it!), she and I have been through a lot of fun together and built something that I’m really proud of. And the funny thing is that even though we’ve worked closely together for well over a year, we’ve never met face-to-face. That meeting will happen sometime around Fran’s SxSW presentation (March 15 at 3:30 CST). So for me, and hopefully for many of you, this panel is a can’t miss. I’ll see you there!

  1. thank you, kind sir.

i'm really keen to lead this conversation with michael, too, especially because he and i balance one another in background. he comes from insurance, i come from OD and communication.

plus, because it's a conversation, it means it's not all us. everyone in the room will contribute.

    i'll see you there!

    yours in co,
